Buxton Raceway
Buxton Raceway sits high on the moors above the town of Buxton, making it one of the most distinctive short‑oval circuits in the UK. Its exposed position means the weather can change quickly, and that unpredictability has become part of the track’s character. The venue has been hosting stock car and banger racing for decades, and it remains a key stop on the northern racing calendar.
The oval itself is tight and straightforward, which often leads to close, physical racing. Drivers come from across the country to compete in National Bangers, Hot Fords, Ministox, and other popular formulas. The atmosphere is informal and practical: teams working from trailers, spectators gathering along the fence line, and a general sense that everyone is there for the racing rather than the spectacle.
What stands out about Buxton is how rooted it feels in grassroots motorsport. There’s no gloss or unnecessary extras — just a track, a timetable, and a community that turns up reliably throughout the season. Regular visitors know to bring layers, expect a bit of wind, and settle in for a day of steady, no‑nonsense competition.
