Cressing Temple Barns
Cressing Temple Barns is a medieval site located between Witham and Braintree in Essex. It is one of the earliest and largest of the possessions of the Knights Templar in England and is now open to visitors.
The historic barns date back to the 13th Century and are wooden structures of which there are few remaining in England. You can explore the walled garden and learn more about Tudor plants and how they were used. The walled gardens have been faithfully recreated.
In the barns, you can learn more about the building techniques of the time and glimpse into the lives of the people who built them. Displays inside outline the history of the Templars and the site. They run a series of family-friendly annual events.
