Hardwick Hall is a National Trust property in the Chesterfield area of Derbyshire. It is a significant Elizabethan country house and there is plenty there for families to enjoy a day out.

What can you do at Hardwick Hall?

The house was home to “Bess of Hardwick” who first created Hardwick in the 1500s. You can explore the hall and see the decades of influence and contributions from builders, decorators, embroiderers and craftsmen. There are lots to see inside the house and I am sure you will be very impressed.

The grounds feature walks with picturesque views, a woodland family natural play trail and more. There are stableyard buildings, a mill and the park has 300 acres of historic parkland with ancient woodlands and wildlife-rich fishing lakes. The visitor centre often has extra activities for the kids such as a bug hunt pack.

There is a huge range of walks across Hardwick with a few of the best walks highlighted on the National Trusts web page for Hardwick Hall. There is a really easy route for families entitled the Duke and Duchess short walk.
