Haughmond Hill

Haughmond Hill is part of Forestry England located near Shrewsbury in Shropshire. It is a good place for walks and off-road biking (especially mountain biking). There are well-organised walking paths across the hill. Maps are available on their website.

What is there to do at Haughmond Hill?

There are 4 walking trails with different lengths and difficulties. They start at around 1 mile and the longest is just over 2 miles. The Geo trail is suitable for pushchairs and younger children. The walk has a viewing platform where you can look down at Haughmond quarry. Look out for some large rocks with fossils of sea creatures in them. There are also some fabulous views across the River Severn, Shrewsbury, South Shropshire and the Welsh hills beyond.

How long you spend at the hill would depend on how many walks you try or if you go for a walk and then a ride on your mountain bike. Another easy walk is the Corbett trail which is suitable for buggies and mobility scooters. This is a yellow waymarked surface trail through mixed woodland with frequent benches. They often have a themed trail for kids within the forest.

The forest is free to visit. There is a charge to park if you are visiting by car.
