Peak Rail
Peak Rail is a heritage steam and diesel service for tourists and visitors to the Peak District and the Derbyshire Dales in Matlock, Derbyshire. The track length is around 6 kilometres with three stations.
What is there to do at Peak Rail?
The railway provides a nostalgic journey back to a bygone age through its diesel and steam locomotives. The line currently operates between Rowsley South Station and Matlock Platform 2. As well as their normal train journeys they also host a number of special seasonal, events, plus luxury dining is available in their Palatine restaurant car.
From Rowsley South Station there are lovely riverside walks enabling passengers to visit Rowsley village itself and the historic Caudwell’s Mill. Cyclists can make use of the newly established cycle track which runs alongside the railway line from Rowsley to Matlock. Also at Rowsley, you will find toilet facilities, the Northwood buffet, a gift shop and a picnic area.
Darley Dale station is the intermediate station on the line. Car parking, toilet, waiting room and picnic area facilities are available. There is also a small museum. Matlock Platform 2 has public toilets adjacent to the bus station for a small charge, you can also explore the town of Matlock. The station has a gift shop and tourist information centre.

Is there food and drink available?
There is a buffet kiosk at Rowsley station, you are welcome to bring a picnic or why not book one of their dining services?
What are the main things to do?
Small college zoo with a good variety of animals, including endangered species. They have Heritage steam or diesel train rides in Derbyshire with three stations, special events, and a dining service. There are toilets at or near all stations. There are refreshments available at Rowsley
What are the ticket prices?
All-day return ticket is £9.50 for an adult, children 3-15 are £4.50. Under 3s are free. Other pricing options including single tickets and family tickets are available.

Is there parking?
Rowsley South provides car parking for over 200 cars. Darley Dale station has limited parking. There is no parking at the Matlock station. The nearest parking is a pay and display car park 7 minutes walk away.

Dog friendly?
Well-behaved dogs can travel on all trains free, of charge. There are restrictions for some of their special events, including the Santa and Dining Trains – except for assistance dogs who can travel on all services throughout the year.
