Renishaw Hall and Gardens are located near Chesterfield in Derbyshire. It is a country house that is a Grade I listed building and has been the home of the Sitwell family for nearly 400 years.

What is there to do at Renishaw Hall and Gardens?

The house was originally built in 1625 by George Sitwell who was once the High Sheriff of Derbyshire. You can book guided tours of the house. This is the only way to see the house. Guided tours take visitors around the ground floor and they last for approximately 1 hour. These are available every Friday during the house opening season.

In the Sitwell Museum, you can step into the past and discover the history of the family that lived at the house. There are a number of items to see from the archives and the family’s private collection. There is also a stable courtyard with a few local businesses.

Outdoors the gardens are open Wednesday to Sunday. The stunning Italianate gardens with lawns, woodland and lakes. These were laid out in the late 19th century by the family. They often hold family-friendly trails around the gardens.

Garden-only tickets are £9.00 per adult, £4.50 per child and children under 3 are free. Family tickets and season tickets are available. Guided tours cost £15.00 per adult and £9.00 per child.

When are they open?

The gardens are open from Wednesday to Sunday almost all year round. Guided tours of the house are limited (see above).
