Seaton Delaval Hall is a Grade 1 listed country house near Whitley Bay in Northumberland. It is owned by the National Trust and is located near the coast just north of Newcastle upon Tyne. The house was designed in 1718 for Admiral George Delaval.

What is there to do at Seaton Delaval Hall?

Indoors you can visit the stunning central hall, spiral stairs and the basement most of which have undergone huge and very recent transformations. The house is still undergoing renovations but there are often other rooms that you can explore within this great house.

The hall has some beautiful gardens waiting to be explored. Designed by the man who designed the house the gardens provide the same sense of drama and theatre which the central hall creates. There are sweeping views to the North and there are hidden ha-ha walls, woodlands and architectural structures such as the obelisk. The National Trust often provide trails for the kids so it’s worth asking what’s on when you arrive.

There is also a recently added play park, the Delaval Playdium, with lots of wooden fun. The play area is located in the North West woods. There are things to climb, slide, swing and play on.
