Speke Hall

Speke Hall is a National Trust property in Speke, Merseyside. It is a wood-framed Tudor manor house. The house is one of the finest surviving examples of its kind and it is Grade I listed.
What is there to do at Speke Hall?
The hall was originally built in 1530 and has an atmospheric interior that spans many periods with a Great Hall, Priest hole and Oak Parlour. There are other smaller rooms that you can also see during your visit. The fully equipped Victorian kitchen enables visitors to see ‘behind the scenes’.
Outdoors there is a restored garden with different areas. You can also enjoy woodland walks. A 5-minute walk away you will find Home Farm. Here there are more things to see and do including a children’s play area and estate walks plus a restaurant.
There is a formal play area and a woodland play area. Plus the Childe of Hale trail which is a sculptured play trail, based on the local legend of John Middleton who was supposedly 9’3″ tall! It is even said that he slept with his feet sticking out of his bedroom window in nearby Hale village. Remember to look out for giant buttons, optical illusions and some larger-than-life vegetable musical instruments that you can play. There is also a hedge maze with 12 gates, 5 bridges, 4 finger mazes, 3 weather vanes and a viewing platform waiting to be discovered.

Is there food and drink available?
There is a restaurant serving hot and cold food and drinks. You are welcome to bring a picnic.

Historic Tudor timber frame manor house, gardens, walks, play areas, adventure play trail, hedge maze and more. There are toilets and a restaurant.
What are the ticket prices?
Free to members of the National Trust. An adult standard house and grounds ticket costs £17 and children are £8.50. Children aged under 5 years are free, family tickets are available and grounds-only tickets are cheaper.
Is there parking?
There is a large free car park.
When are they open?
Speke Hall is open almost all year round, some facilities are not always open. For up-to-date opening times please visit their website.
Dog friendly?
Dogs are welcome in the gardens and grounds but not indoors nor in the play areas.
