Things to do at Standen House and Garden review

Standen House and Garden is a National Trust property located near East Grinstead in West Sussex. It is an arts and crafts Grade I listed building. The house was constructed around the late 19th century and the interior is decorated with William Morris carpets, fabrics and wallpapers.

You can explore the house today that still has the warm and welcome feeling to it that the family originally planned. It is a comfortable rather than luxurious home with wonderful decoration. Rooms you can see include the Drawing room, a Billiard room, Dining room and a Business room. Plus the Hall, the kitchen and bedrooms.

At Standen house, there are numerous walks on offer through 100 acres of the house’s estate including ancient bluebell woods and meadowland. Walks can be viewed and printed out from the National Trust website. They often have spotter sheets available from the visitor reception to engage kids in the world around them.

There is a natural play area called The Plantation. It has a small natural maze, a fort made of logs and tree stumps to jump and climb on.
