Things to do at Sudbury Hall and the National Trust Museum of Childhood review
Sudbury Hall is an ornately crafted 17th-century manor house which houses an interactive museum dedicated to childhood. The house is in Sudbury near Ashbourne in Derbyshire.
The museum of childhood has a surprise around every corner including some larger-than-life versions of family favourite board games. There’s plenty for kids to play with and look at with toys that time has almost forgotten. Make sure you pick up an activity booklet or take the museum trail to see what other surprises you may find. There are plans to upgrade these facilities.
The gardens at Sudbury have been transformed many times over the centuries. The gardens began life as a very formal design more than 300 years ago. In the grounds, there is a children’s play area with climbing frames, swings and slides. Plus you can pick up an activity trail for taking around the grounds which will make walking more fun for the kids.
There is plenty to see and discover in the house with a grand great staircase, long gallery, wood carvings and more. Kids will enjoy the quiz that they can take part in around the house.
Please note – Most places may still require you to pre-book online in advance. Some venues also still have certain areas closed for safety reasons. Please check their website and/or social media pages before visiting.
