Things to do at Wallington Hall National Trust review

Wallington Hall is a National Trust property near Cambo in Northumberland. It is a country house and gardens around a 12-mile drive from Morpeth. The estate was owned by the Fenwick family from around 1475 until they ran into financial difficulties. The hall house was rebuilt in 1688. The house is set in 100 acres of rolling parkland with ornamental lakes and a refurbished walled garden.

The house is beautifully furnished inside and includes a large collection of antique dollhouses. It is considered as one of the North East’s most spectacular properties.

They even have a bike trail at Warrington and bikes are available to hire. Their Dragon cycle trail has inspiring far-reaching views across Northumberland’s countryside. There are also many walking trails with miles of footpaths. The walks on offer are varied and some take you through farmland. There are four different walks listed on their website with directions.

Within the grounds, there are three outdoor playparks. Their adventure playground is full of exciting equipment including monkey bars, a zip wire and other fun things to play on. In the ‘wild’ west wood you can look out for red squirrels, peer into the ice house and give den building a go. Beyond the adventure playground, there are themed play zones including a play train and platform plus a play fort. Kids will love the rope bridge and fireman’s pole.
