Wentworth Woodhouse is a country house in Wentworth, near Rotherham, South Yorkshire. It is a Grade 1 listed building that is one of the largest houses in Europe.

What can you do at Wentworth Woodhouse?

To be able to see around the house you have to prebook a tour. The house was once the home of the Fitzwilliam family and was bought by the Wentworth Woodhouse Preservation Trust in 2017. They organise guided tours of the house and gardens. Not all the rooms are open but the tours are informative and tell you the story of this great estate.

You can explore the 50 acres of gardens without booking a tour of the house. Within the grounds, you can find 18th-century follies, monuments, a wildflower meadow and more. A popular route begins at the mansion and takes in the West Terrace. You can see sweeping views from the Ha-Ha and south Terrace, plus you will take in the Ionic Temple and Camelia house.
