Blists Hill Victorian Town is part of the Ironbridge collection of museums near Telford in Shropshire. It is an open-air museum that will transport you back more than 100 years to a fantastic recreation of Victorian Life. You can visit it as part of a combined ticket or as an individual attraction.

What is Blists Hill Victorian Town?

There is a huge amount to see and explore within the recreated Victorian town, almost all aspects of Victorian life have been covered and to further enhance your visit all the staff are dressed in authentic period costumes. They are fantastic and well worth stopping for a chat with to find out more about life back then plus there are daily demonstrations.

What is there to do at Blists Hill Victorian Town?

There are authentic shops and cottages, a bank, a pharmacy, stables and a printing shop. Plus a large brick and tile works, Iron merchants, sweetshop, candle factory, plumbers and so much more. Also, there is a seasonal, fairground with fairground rides (additional charge for the rides and attractions). The Mine railway is also seasonal,, this takes you around the hillside and then stops in the tunnel where you will see a short AV presentation.

A new bespoke adventure play area is now open at Blists Hill. Attractions include multi-level themed buildings linking to elevated walks above the woodland floor, a log-style basket swing, a seesaw, immersive play areas, zip wire, a toddler zone and a food and drinks kiosk with a seating area.

Is there food and drink available?

There is a selection of cafés and restaurants serving hot and cold food and drinks. You are welcome to bring a picnic.

What are the main things to do?

A historic working farm with shire horses, rare breed animals, daily demonstrations and tours, plus annual events,. There are toilets and a cafe.

What are the ticket prices?

Tickets cost around £23.50 for an adult and £14 for a child. It is better value to purchase a one-year pass to all the Ironbridge museums which cost £33 for an adult and £20.00 for a child. Under 5s are free, Other pricing options including family tickets are available. Prices are subject to change and/or discounts online.

Is there parking?

There is a small charge to park.

When are they open?

Blists Hill is open for most of the year and is closed on Mondays over the winter. For up-to-date opening times please visit their website.

Dog friendly?

You are welcome to take dogs into most of the historic exhibits as it’s a dog-friendly museum. There are a few places they are not permitted, dogs must be kept on a lead and are not permitted at special events.
