Devon Railway Centre is a tourist attraction in Bickleigh, Devon. It offers a range of things to do such as train rides, a model village, model railways, outdoor play areas and a museum .

What can you do at Devon Railway Centre?

Their 2ft narrow gauge railway takes you on a ride next to the River Exe and around the attraction. They have both steam and diesel locomotives which you can ride as many times as you want during your visit. It’s a fun experience for kids as you are encouraged to clip your own tickets and they often ask for a volunteer to help wave the flag. You can ride to a picnic area with a climbing frame.

There is also a smaller 71/4 gauge railway which also allows you to explore the area around the centre. There’s plenty to spot including gnomes and other fun things in the Magic Wood. In some of their stationary train carriages, they have a model railway exhibition. Plus there is a button to press to make the funfair come to life.

Outside there is a relatively large model village with trains that meander through it. The Play shed is an indoor soft play area which is suitable for children up to 148 cm in height. Kids can also play in their play coaches with sand, wooden railway sets and more.

There’s also a railway-themed crazy golf course, a mini train kids can drive, an orbiter ride for those 1.1m and over plus drive your own cars. That’s not all there are also three outdoor play areas with a castle-themed play for younger children, a twister play area for all children and the picnic site mentioned above.
