Dino Park, located near Dumfries, is a fun, family‑friendly attraction that brings the prehistoric world to life through immersive trails, hands‑on activities and plenty of dinosaur‑themed excitement. Set within the grounds of Hetland Garden Centre, the park is designed to feel like a step back in time, with life‑sized dinosaurs peeking through the trees, roaring from the bushes and waiting to be discovered around every corner. It’s a brilliant day out for children who love dinosaurs, as well as grown‑ups who enjoy a mix of outdoor adventure and imaginative play.

The main woodland trail takes visitors on a journey through the age of the dinosaurs, where you’ll meet favourites like the T‑Rex, Velociraptors, Triceratops and more. The models are impressively detailed and placed within natural surroundings, making the experience feel both exciting and atmospheric. Along the way, families can stop at the Dino Den to hear stories and fun facts, or head into the Dino Mine where kids can dig for fossils and uncover hidden treasures.

Younger visitors will love the bouncy dinosaur, a playful feature that adds an extra bit of energy to the day, along with the treehouse and outdoor play area filled with slides and climbing equipment. These spaces give children plenty of opportunities to burn off steam while exploring the dinosaur trail.

There is a cafe serving hot and cold food and drinks. You are welcome to bring a picnic outdoors.

What are the main things to do?

Dinosaur-themed park with realistic dinosaurs, dino mine, dino den and play areas, plus indoor soft play. There are toilets and a cafe.

What are the ticket prices?

You need to purchase separate tickets for the indoor and outdoor attractions. Dino Park – Children 1 and over are £12.00, adults and over 14s £6.00. Under 1s are free. Dino soft play – children 3+ £9.50, 1-2 £7.50, adults are free. There are many other pricing options including family tickets and loyalty cards. Joint tickets are available.

When are they open?
