Uppark House and Garden

Uppark House and Garden

Uppark House and Gardens is a National Trust property in South Harting near Petersfield in West Sussex. The house was built in the 17th century and is Grade 1 listed. The house is surrounded by gardens and woodland and is perched high up overlooking the South Downs National Park and West Sussex countryside.

The ground floor rooms of the house offer a beguiling view of 18th-century life for the family that once lived there. The house suffered a major fire in 1989 but has since been restored to its former glory. You can see the staircase hall, the Servery and the Dining room. Plus the Stone hall, Saloon, Red drawing room, Tapestry bedroom and the Little Parlour. You can also normally look around the servant’s quarters and tunnels.

They have family-friendly trails indoors and out and the parkland is a great place for families to enjoy a picnic. Families will enjoy taking a walk in the enchanting woodland. You can explore the beautiful and atmospheric woodlands with their walking trail (downloadable from the National Trust website).
