There are usually rainy days or cold days when we all struggle for something to do with the kids. I have put together this post full of days out for when the weather just isn’t being kind to us. Most of my suggestions are indoor things to do but some may have outdoor elements as well. After all, we all need a bit of fresh air even on the worse weather days!
This list of things to do on a rainy day in Lincolnshire is alphabetical so there is no order of preference. I have included the address for each and a link to their website for you to find further information or make a booking.
Ten Pin Bowling Lincolnshire
There are quite a few bowling alleys to choose from in Lincolnshire. They are as follows:
Ancaster Karting
The karting clubhouse has a 6-lane bowling alley. There is also a bar, café and games area plus outdoor facilities including go-karting. Address: Ermine St, Ancaster, Grantham NG32 3PY. Find out more
Ashby Bowl Scunthorpe

Boston Bowl

Cleethorpes Ten Pin Bowl

Grantham Bowl
This has a recently refurbished 12 lane bowling alley including an American style Diner, Jaks. There is also laser storm here and the fun farm soft play. Address: Dysart Rd, Grantham NG31 7LE. Find out more
Lincoln Bowl

Mirage Mablethorpe
The bowling lanes have been recently upgraded at the Mirage. They have a variety of offers regarding prices for bowling. Address: 9-19 High St, Mablethorpe LN12 1AG.
Scunthorpe Bowl
Scunthorpe Bowl offers a modern family-friendly tenpin bowling experience with state-of-the-art facilities including the ball rolling ramps and the pop-up gutter. Address: Warren Rd, Scunthorpe DN15 6XH. Find out more

Cinema
Lincolnshire is home to our favourite cinema the Kinema in the Woods. It really is a lovely and nostalgic place to visit. Here’s a list of cinemas across the region.
Kinema in the Woods, Woodhall Spa
The Kinema in the Woods dates back to 1922 and is a little gem. There are two screens with a fabulous old-fashioned interior. In screen 1 an organist often comes up out of the floor during the interval. Address: Coronation Rd, Woodhall Spa LN10 6QD. Find out more

Odeon Lincoln
State-of-the-art cinema on Brayford Waterfront in Lincoln. All the latest films are shown here in 2D and 3D where available. They have some great weekend family deals such as films starting at just £2.50 a person. Address: Brayford Wharf N, Lincoln LN1 1YS. Find out more
Parkway Cleethorpes

Playhouse Louth
This is a small cinema run by parkway cinemas which also run the cinema complex in Cleethorpes. Address: Cannon St, Louth LN11 9NL. Find out more
South Holland Centre Spalding
Located in the centre of Spalding this cinema has live shows and workshops. There is 1 screen and they show most new releases. They can play 3D films. Address: 23 Market Pl, Spalding PE11 1SS.
Tower Skegness
The Tower is a 2-screen cinema which has a classic cinema exterior. The interior is modern and they show recent blockbusters. Address: 111 Lumley Rd, Skegness PE25 3LZ.
Savoy Cinema Boston
This cinema in Boston shows all the latest releases. The cinema has been recently upgraded and it is now a Savoy cinema. Address: 32-44 West St, Boston PE21 8QH. Find out more
Farm Parks with lots to do indoors
Rand farm park
Indoor attractions include a new animal barn and an indoor air canon shooting arena. They also have an indoor play barn, sandpit and pedal tractors and play pods. There is also plenty to do outdoors if the weather changes. Address: Rand, Market Rasen LN8 5NJ. Find out more
Tattershall Farm park
Indoors there is a large animal barn with plenty of animals and birds to feed. Plus a sandpit room, toddler and baby room, reptile room and soft play for all. There is also lots to do outdoors with daily activities. Address: Marsh Ln, Tattershall, Lincoln LN4 4JR. Find out more
Historical Places to Visit
Most historical places that are indoors tend to be small places to visit. The larger historical houses etc. usually have large outdoor areas.
Belton House National Trust
Belton House is mostly all about the large outdoor adventure playground. However, it does have indoor attractions. You can look around the house itself, there is a nice indoor wooden adventure play area and also an activities room with arts and crafts. Address: High Road Belton, Grantham NG32 2LW. Find out more
Gainsborough Old Hall English Heritage
Gainsborough Old Hall is amongst the biggest and best-preserved medieval manor houses in England. It is part timber-framed but mostly brick-built. It was built in the latter part of the 15th century with Elizabethan additions and has an impressive kitchen with an enormous fireplace, a noble great hall, and an imposing lodgings tower. Lincoln Cathedral
The interior is as breathtaking as the exterior. The Cathedral has been through many phases of construction since 1088. It’s the third largest Cathedral in the UK so there are many areas to explore inside including a café and a small area for relaxing in the sun. Grimsby Ice Rink
They have events and activities suitable for all ages at affordable prices. This is the only ice rink in Lincolnshire. They have skate aids available to hire for the little ones. Address: The rear of Leisure Centre, Cromwell Rd, Grimsby DN31 2BH. Find out more
Lincolnshire Wolds Railway
The railway operates on a stretch of line that was once part of the Great Northern route from Boston to Grimsby. They have many special event days but they do have limited running days. Address: Station Rd, Ludborough, Grimsby DN36 5SQ. Find out more
Skegness Aquarium
It is not huge compared to some, however, it has been nicely done and with many things on during the day, you could easily spend more time here than just walking around. When you have finished your visit there is a soft play area upstairs next to the café. Address: Tower Esplanade, Skegness PE25 3HH. Find out more
Sk8S Roller Disco
Flat fee, skate as long as you like! We charge £5 to enter plus skate hire @ £1.50. The session lasts 2 hours and you can stop and start at your leisure. Moor Ln, North Hykeham, Lincoln LN6 9AB.
Museums
Ayscoughfee Hall Spalding
An interesting museum giving information on the town and surrounding area. It gives detailed information on the agricultural history of the surrounding area and fens. The gardens are lovely and well-kept. There is an aviary and children’s play area. FREE to visit. Address: Churchgate, Spalding PE11 2RA.
Grimsby Fishing Heritage Centre
Experience the sights, sounds and smells of Grimsby as the ‘world’s premier fishing port’ at an award-winning attraction. Climb aboard the historic ‘Ross Tiger’ trawler to experience the conditions aboard one of the earliest surviving diesel side trawlers. Address: Alexandra Dock, Grimsby DN31 1UZ. Find out more
Museum of Lincolnshire Life Lincoln
There’s plenty to see and do and learn all about the past years of Lincolnshire life. With different halls full of displays, old shop displays and the History Hunters playground. National Centre for craft and design Sleaford
The National Centre for Craft & Design is the largest venue in England entirely dedicated to the exhibition, celebration and promotion of national and international craft and design. North Lincolnshire Museum Scunthorpe
They have a wide range of events at the museum running throughout the year including family-friendly activities and organised sessions. Featuring a range of permanent galleries and a changing exhibition gallery, the Museum offers a history experience for all the family. FREE to visit. Address: Oswald Rd, Scunthorpe DN15 7BD. The Collection Lincoln
The Collection Museum is a really intriguing museum. It’s based on life from the past half a million years (nearly) in Lincolnshire. All different ages are accounted for and a lot of the exhibits can be touched or even worn. There’s armour to wear, stained glass windows to make, touchscreen games and plenty more. Time Trap Grimsby
As you pass through dark, twisting corridors you will be able to explore mysterious nooks and crannies and make your way up and down winding stairs. You will discover the town’s treasures as you piece together the jigsaw that reveals how Grimsby developed. Address: Town Hall, Town Hall Square, Grimsby DN31 1HX.
Soft Play Centres
Oh my goodness there are so many soft play centres in Lincolnshire. It is a great thing to do on a rainy or cold day. Although they can get pretty busy as everyone else seems to have the same idea. My advice is to get there for opening and head off just before or after lunch!

Grantham Meres Leisure Centre
Their learner pool offers the ideal swimming experience for families to learn and have fun together with a flume and splash pool for the younger visitor. Use of the pool is by membership or via a leisure card. Address: Trent Rd, Grantham NG31 7XQ. Find out more
Louth – Meridian Leisure
As well as a large swimming pool they have a fun toddler pool with a pirate ship, slides and water pouring off it. There is also a long slide open at weekends or during school holidays. Address: Wood Ln, Louth LN11 8SA. Find out more
Skegness – Embassy pool
In the heart of Skegness, the Embassy outdoor swimming complex offers a large 25m six-lane heated outdoor swimming pool with a ‘beach’ area for children to paddle. There is plenty of seating on the grass area, a snack bar offering refreshments and poolside chalets. There is also an indoor 25m six-lane pool with a 33m flume if you get a little chilly!
