Welcome to our what’s on guide this Easter in the East of England in 2023. This includes events and attractions that are open in Bedfordshire – Cambridgeshire – Essex – Hertfordshire – Norfolk – Suffolk. Please check with the attractions that they are open and their events are running before you leave home. Many attractions still require visitors to pre-book in advance.

Ashridge House – Hertfordshire FEATURED LISTING

ROLL UP! ROLL UP! The Ashridge Vintage Fayre is coming to town! Between 1-10 April there’ll be fun for everyone, with traditional rides set against the backdrop of our beautiful spring garden!

Have a go on your favourites like the dodgems, big apple coaster and the big wheel…After having so much fun on all those rides, you’re bound to be hungry so head over to our food stall where you’ll find vintage sweets from Sammy’s Sweets, something from OMG Streetfood, our Mini Bakehouse & our very own Ashridge Horsebox!

Take a stroll through our beautiful gardens to see how many of our bunnies you can spot!

We will also have lawn games including Giant Jenga and Giant Connect 4, so there will be fun for the whole family!

Anglesey Abbey – Cambridgeshire

Event – Easter Egg Hunts About – Make your way along the trail, finding activities for the whole family. Come along and explore the beautiful gardens of Anglesey Abbey. The trail is an additional small charge and includes a trail map, pencil and a chocolate egg at the end.


Audley End House and Gardens – Essex

When? 7th-10th April

Event – Easter Escapades About – Join our performers at Audley End House and Gardens for four days of Easter fun. There’ll be plenty of opportunity for the whole family to get involved in traditional games, activities and races, along with storytelling sessions throughout the day. You can also take part in an egg-stra special Easter Adventure Quest.

Plus on the 1st-6th April and 11th-16th April there is an Easter Adventure Quest.  Explore the grounds and gardens to hunt for clues and challenges and discover traditional Easter games like egg rolling and the egg and spoon race. Track down the Easter eggs and you’ll be rewarded with an adventurer’s certificate and a tasty chocolate treat.


Audley End Railway – Essex

Event – Easter Special 2023 About – Hop on our miniature train this Easter with your family and ride deep into the enchanted Audley End woods to visit our very own Easter bunny in Wonderland.   

Along the route through the magical woods, you can use our I Spy sheet to spot little bunnies and spring chicks, heavily laden nests with an abundance of colourful eggs – perhaps you’ll even spot a flying carrot plane.  The train stops in wonderland where the children will meet our full-sized Alice and the Easter Bunny while his furry friends give each child a special gift.  


Barleylands Farm Park – Essex

Bewilderwood – Norfolk

Event – Easter Egg-spedition About – Hop to it and meet the Easter Bunny at the Storytelling Stage, then bounce along the trail to find where those Pesky Bunnies are hiding around the woods. Will you be able to find them all and win an eggcellent prize?


Blickling Estate – Norfolk

Event – Easter Egg Hunts About – This spring, treat the whole family to a world of adventure at Blickling Estate on our Easter trail. Make your way along the trail and find activities for the whole family. Come along and explore the beautiful garden at Blickling Estate. The small charge for the trail includes a trail map, bunny ears, a pencil and a chocolate egg at the end.


Bure Valley Railway – Norfolk

Event – Easter Eggspress About – Hop on board the Easter Eggspress over the Easter school holidays for an “eggciting” day out for all the family. FREE Easter Egg for every child on completion of our Easter Stamp Trail at both Aylsham and Wroxham. To add to this Easter-themed event we will be decorating the Whistlestop Café and Easter Lunch Boxes will be available to purchase (not included in the ticket price).


Burwell Museum – Cambridgeshire

Event – Easter Egg Hunt About – Easter fun at the museum from 11 am on Sunday and Monday. Plus an Easter bonnet competition on the 9th.


Cammas Hall Farm – Essex

Event – Alice in Wonderland Trail About – Welcome to our Alice in Wonderland-themed trail. Can you navigate your way, find the clues and solve the riddles? The route is approximately half a mile and will guide you through our enchanting Cammas Wood, open farmland and our developing fruit fields. There are themed areas to enjoy and a few surprises along the way.


Church Farm – Hertfordshire

Event – Easter Eggstravagazna About – An Easter  Farm Day Pass enables you to enjoy access to the farm trail in Vicarage Field, see the farm animals and walk the footpaths. The price includes an Easter-themed Activity Book which includes the Easter Bunny Riddle Trail, Farm Bingo and Easter-themed activities. Easter and spring is a wonderful time on the farm. See our lambs in the fields, chicks in the chick shed, and piglets in Vicarage Field.


Church Farm Stow Bardolph – Norfolk

Event – Easter Egg Hunt About – We give you one half of an Easter Egg, you just have to find the other half hidden somewhere in Church Wood. Everyone who finds their whole egg receives a prize.


Colchester Zoo – Essex

East Anglian Railway Museum – Essex

Event – Day Out With Thomas About – Join Thomas & Friends for a day of family fun at the East Anglian Railway Museum. Take a train ride with Thomas, meet Sir Topham Hatt and join Sodor Station Sweepers Rusty & Dusty for a trainload of excitement.


East Anglia Transport Museum – Suffolk

Event – Easter Treasure Hunt About – Our first event of the year welcomes you with an Easter celebration with fun for all the family, with a free treasure hunt ending in prizes for all the children who take part.  Our tram & trolleybus fleet will be running all day, along with our narrow-gauge railway and all the static exhibits.


Easton Farm Park – Suffolk

Epping Ongar Railway – Essex

Event – Easter Egg Hunt About – Find all the eggs that the Easter Bunny has hidden all along our line. Running the length of the railway track, from Ongar through to Coopersale, the distance covered is equivalent to 131,579 eggs placed end to end! You’ll need to hop on and off our steam and diesel trains to find them all! 


Framlingham Castle – Suffolk

Event – Easter Adventure Quest About – Join us for a cracking adventure quest at Framlingham Castle this Easter holiday. Event – Mini Easter Feast in the Park About – This Easter, we are looking forward to welcoming back some of Norfolk’s favourite food concessions for a bitesize Feast in the Park. You’ll find them parked up in front of the Hall, ready and waiting to take your order. 


Jimmy’s Farm – Suffolk

Event – Spring Spectacular About – Join us this Easter for a Spring-tacular Adventure! We have a range of seasonal, fun activities. Daily lambing live talks take place each day. We have lots of sheep ready to lamb and you may be able to see it. Our rangers will talk you through what to expect and you can learn about the rare breeds of sheep we have on the farm.


Kentwell Hall – Essex

Event – Eastertide About – We have laid dozens of decorated eggs on a trail which runs around the gardens and through the woods and we challenge families to find them all, while they enjoy exploring over 30 acres of glorious country house gardens and grounds.  There is also our Eggheads Challenge – ‘scramble’ the code on the huge wooden eggs to ‘crack’ the puzzle they reveal, but please don’t get ‘eggy’ if you can’t work it out!  This is an egg-hunt with a difference, for the whole family to enjoy and join in with together.


Knebworth House – Hertfordshire

Event – Easter Trail About – On arrival collect your Sheet and follow the Trail around Knebworth Gardens looking for clues to complete the word puzzle. Each child with a trail sheet will be able to collect a prize at the end. Trail sheets are free for Season Ticket Holders. Marsh Farm – Essex

Mountfitchet Castle – Essex

Event – Easter Adventure About – Easter comes to Rye-Assic Adventure Park at Rye House Kart Raceway this year with morning and afternoon Easter sessions! Sandringham Estate – Norfolk

Event – Easter Egg Trail About – Find hidden clues around the Royal Parkland and enjoy a chocolate egg at the end of the trail provided by Kinnerton Confectionery. All proceeds will go to the EAAA.


Shuttleworth Collection – Bedfordshire

Event – Easter Bunny Fly-in and Egg Hunt About – We are thrilled to be hosting our annual Easter bunny fly-in once more. Look up to the sky at around 11am and watch the Easter bunny make an entrance! Follow the Easter bunny’s helpers into Shuttleworth Gardens and find the eggs they left behind through the Swiss Garden. Once you have collected three Easter eggs, take them to our Discovery Hub and claim a chocolate surprise from the Easter bunny.
